Sacramento Motorist Head Injury

A Sacramento motorist head injury occurred on January 2 following a collision with another vehicle along U.S. Route 50. The accident was reported shortly before 6:00 pm along westbound U.S. 50 just east of the Mather Field Road north onramp. The number two lane was blocked by the crash. The driver, described as a male in his 60s, was able to move the Mercedes he was driving to the Chevron station nearby at Folsom and Mather, where he waited for authorities and medical personnel to arrive.

Additional Information About the Accident

It was not reported what other vehicles were involved in the accident because another crash had just happened nearby. However, it was reported by an individual who called into the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that there were a total of three vehicles in the crash.

Delayed Symptoms in a Motor Vehicle Accident

Although a Sacramento motorist head injury caused by a collision is fairly common, it is always a good idea to seek medical care afterward. This is because some serious symptoms might not be present right away and can be delayed for several days. Documentation of an accident and any injuries is important when dealing with the insurance company and also if a lawsuit is filed against the other driver/drivers. If care isn’t sought right away, the insurance company or defendant in the case may say that the medical problem had another cause. Delayed symptoms of a head injury include:

  • Headache
  • Confusion or foggy feeling
  • Vomiting or nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Amnesia about the event
  • Delays in responding to questions
  • Smell and taste disorders
  • Light and noise sensitivity
  • Personality changes and irritability

Types of Head Injuries

A Sacramento motorist head injury may be anything from a mild concussion to a skull fracture or a serious traumatic brain injury. Head injuries are a common cause of death and disability in adults and often occur due to motor vehicle crashes, so care has to be taken to seek medical attention. Diagnostic testing and a comprehensive exam are used to evaluate the extent of the injury. Although symptoms of a moderate to severe head injury may appear right away, a milder injury such as concussion may not show symptoms for days after the accident. Having an early evaluation by a physician or at an emergency room following a Sacramento motorist head injury helps to develop a baseline and document the accident. This is important when the injured person decides to pursue compensation.

Seeking Legal Help After a Sacramento Motorist Head Injury

A seasoned injury attorney can help those who are injured in a motor vehicle crash obtain fair compensation by negotiating for you with the insurance company. In some cases, when the insurance offer is insufficient, the case for compensation can be presented in civil court. Being compensated for outstanding medical bills and associated expenses, wage loss and pain and suffering helps the individual financially so they can concentrate on getting better without stress.
