Sacramento Man Dies in Dixon Auto Accident

One person passed away after being involved in a Dixon auto accident on Sunday, February 28, 2021. Solano area California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the collision involved just one vehicle and happened during the afternoon. Officials from the Solano County Sheriff’s Office have since identified the decedent as 45-year-old Freddie Martinez from Sacramento. No other individuals were reported to have been involved in the collision.

Crash Details

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. on the westbound side of Highway Interstate 80, just past the junction at Highway 113. According to police, Martinez was driving west in a 1998 Chevy Tahoe SUV when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the car. The vehicle subsequently overturned, ejecting Martinez through a window as it rolled.

Witnesses reported the collision to police, and CHP rushed response officials out to the site. At the accident scene, responders found Martinez lying on the road with critical injuries and had him driven to the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Vacaville for immediate medical care. Sadly, Martinez later lost his life at the hospital.

Investigation

CHP reports that their officers are conducting an investigation into what could have caused this terrible accident. So far, police haven’t stated what factors they believe could have been involved but did state that they do not suspect driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol to have played a role. Furthermore, CHP urges any accident witnesses or parties with relevant information to aid with investigations. Those looking to report information to CHP about this crash should use the non-emergency phone line (707) 428-2100.

Private Accident Investigations are Important

Single-vehicle auto accidents may only involve one car, but are frequently caused by a number of contributing factors. Because these events can be complicated, investigators are faced with a major challenge when they are unable to interview the involved driver about what took place. Sadly, this means that police may not find all of the relevant evidence, leaving family members and dependents of families unable to claim fair compensation for their losses from at-fault parties.

For this reason, families should reach out to a wrongful death lawyer who can conduct their own investigation into the collision. By doing so, you’ll ensure that an experienced professional is committing time and resources to investigating the accident with your family in mind.

Rollovers and Liability

Rollover collisions are especially dangerous and frequently involve “roof crush injuries.” These kinds of injuries happen when vehicle roofs are not strong enough to protect occupants. When this happens, auto manufacturers can often be held liable as negligent parties to the accident through wrongful death claims.

However, in order to claim this compensation, you need to be able to effectively prove that the car’s roof was inadequate. To do this, your attorney needs to have access to the wrecked vehicle, so it’s important to preserve the car after the crash.
