Driver Ejected During Deadly Dixon Rollover

On Wednesday, November 25, 2020, one person suffered deadly injuries during a Dixon rollover auto accident. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers report that the collision occurred in the morning on I-80 on the eastern side of the city and involved only one passenger vehicle. The Solano County Sheriff’s Department has indicated that they are withholding the identity of the decedent until their next-of-kin is properly notified. A CHP investigation into what could have caused this tragic crash is ongoing.

Crash Details

The collision occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of Highway Interstate 80 just before the exit for Pedrick Road. A 28-year-old man from Clayton was driving a Toyota 4Runner heading east when, for reasons that are currently unknown, his vehicle drifted to the left and entered the median area of the highway.

After entering the median, the 4runner crashed into a guardrail and then veered sharply right, traveling over all eastbound lanes before entering the southern roadway shoulder. As the 4Runner left the road, it overturned and rolled several times before coming to a complete rest.

Response

After CHP dispatch received a call about the incident, emergency responders were immediately sent to the scene. When they arrived, responders found that the driver had been ejected through a vehicle window and was lying on the side of the road. Tragically, the driver was officially pronounced deceased at the site of the crash.

According to police, no other individuals were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Investigation

As investigating officers continue to look into possible accident factors, no likely causes have been confirmed so far. Even solo-vehicle accidents can be caused by a number of concurrent factors. Furthermore, many of these factors aren’t driver-related. Car accident factors that are not under driver control include hazardous roads, defective auto products, and more.

Investigating deadly car accidents can be difficult, especially if police aren’t able to interview any of the individuals who were involved. Without the perspective of the decedent, it’s possible that officers will never fully understand the accident and may leave important evidence unnoticed. For this reason, it’s critical for families to have an expert attorney conduct a private investigation. By doing so, you can make sure a professional is prioritizing your family’s rights during their investigation.

Rollover Accidents

Rollover accidents frequently cause “roof crush injuries,” especially when vehicle roofs are unstable. In these situations, auto manufacturers may be considered financially liable for damages caused by their dangerous products. However, it’s important to preserve the vehicle so that your attorney can determine whether or not the roof was inadequately built.

Wrongful Death Damages

Families can face major financial issues as the result of fatal accidents and are often left without a source of income or access to important, expensive services that their loved one used to perform. These issues can feel overwhelming and often make it difficult to focus on coping with your grief.

However, it is often possible for families to obtain full compensation for their economic and personal losses through wrongful death claims. To find out more about what your family may be able to recover, it’s best to speak personally with a Dixon wrongful death lawyer about your specific case.
