Accident on Calvine Road Blocks Intersection

An injury accident was reported at a Sacramento intersection on July 31 that involved two vehicles. The collision occurred at the intersection of westbound Calvine Road and Barrymore Drive shortly before 11:00 a.m. The accident report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that one of the vehicles sustained a broken front axle.

Minor injuries were reported. Both of the vehicles had to be towed from the intersection, which had been blocked by the crash. The cause of the collision is being investigated by the CHP.

Delayed Symptoms Can Happen After an Injury Accident

It is possible for minor injuries sustained in an accident to worsen later, which may indicate more serious trauma. Traffic collisions often result in delayed symptoms as adrenaline is released during the impact and can mask pain. Medical attention is important even if you only sustain mild trauma in an injury accident.

Delayed Symptoms in an Accident

The majority of minor injuries sustained in an accident may not worsen. Symptoms that may be delayed can transition into a serious injury, including:

  • Back pain: It may seem that back pain is not a serious problem at first. It is possible to have a herniated disc or another spinal injury that makes it difficult to move later on. Checking these types of traumas is a good idea, so they can be treated and avoid becoming a disability.
  • Brain injuries: The majority of people dismiss headaches as minor after an injury accident. A headache that becomes severe later may indicate a concussion or hemorrhage of the brain. If you suspect a serious injury, consult a physician immediately.
  • Abdominal trauma: It is possible for the dashboard or steering wheel to strike people in the front seat in a collision, which can cause abdominal pain. The seat belt tightens and an airbag deploys, which can also cause abdominal trauma. If heavy bruising and pain appear in the abdomen, it can indicate a serious condition such as internal bleeding.
  • Cervical strain or sprain: In an injury accident, the cervical spine is often strained or sprained. It is common for these injuries to appear symptomless at first. Left untreated, the symptoms can worsen, which may restrict head movement and affect shoulders and arms.
