Motorcycle Accident on Folsom Boulevard Caused by Hit-and-Run Driver

A Sacramento hit-and-run on May 15 caused severe injuries to a motorcyclist riding home from a Hangtown Motocross Classic meeting, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The accident happened on Folsom Boulevard close to Bradshaw Road when the motorcyclist, identified as Warren Minster, said he saw headlights and was then struck. He landed on the street on his back. Although his memory of the accident is spotty, it appeared to him that the car crossed over into the oncoming traffic.

Motorcyclist Hospitalized With Broken Back

Although the rider attempted to get out of the way, the accident resulted in him breaking his back. Witnesses who stopped to help also told him what they saw – drivers doing donuts in the street. A long-time aficionado of motorcycles and dirt bikes, Minster has been released from the hospital and plans to attend the Hangtown Motocross racing event, which is scheduled in June. The accident is being investigated by the CHP traffic division.

Locating a Hit-and-Run Driver

At our law firm, we understand the difficulty of recovering from a severe injury, especially if the effects of the trauma may be long-term. This is why we do our utmost to locate the fleeing driver to hold them responsible for the injuries they caused. We’ve been successful in many cases and may be able to do the same for you. It’s difficult enough to suffer a severe injury. You shouldn’t have to pay for another’s wrongdoing. In addition, injury lawyers cost nothing upfront. You don’t pay anything unless you win your case.

What Compensation Is Recoverable?

All accidents are different, and what you recover in compensation depends on a number of factors. However, an injured person can usually recover the following:

  • Medical expenses: All medical costs caused by your accident can be recovered, including your out-of-pocket expenses. These include your hospitalization, doctors’ bills, surgeries, tests, medication and rehabilitative care, medical appliances, etc. If your injury is ongoing, those expenses are factored in.
  • Wages: Serious injuries often mean the patient cannot work and doesn’t receive their wages. The wages are recoverable in addition to other job perks such as pension and insurance benefits. If the injured party has to take a lower-paying job, the difference is calculated in the settlement. If permanent disability results, the injured person can claim compensation until retirement.
  • Pain and suffering. Not only can the injured party obtain compensation for their physical suffering, but many people also experience emotional and psychological effects after a hit-and-run accident. The cost of treatment is recoverable.

Uninsured/Underinsured Policy Can Cover Injuries

An uninsured/underinsured auto policy may be used if the hit-and-run driver isn’t located. If the injured party doesn’t have this policy but another family member does, theirs can be used instead. It will not affect the policy rates in the future.
