Rosemont Motorcycle Collision Injures Biker

A Rosemont motorcycle collision happened on December 26, which resulted in injuries to the rider. The accident happened shortly after 2:30 in the afternoon at Mayhew Road and Oxwood Drive when the motorcyclist and driver of a Chrysler collided. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), an ambulance was summoned to take the rider to a nearby hospital, and a tow truck was called to remove the motorcycle, which was blocking the roadway. No information has been released as of the time of this report on the condition of the rider or which hospital they were transported to for treatment. In addition, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Compensation Following a Rosemont Motorcycle Collision

Motorcyclists have the same rights as drivers of motor vehicles. This means that when a motorcyclist is injured by a driver because of their negligence, it is possible to obtain fair compensation for the injuries incurred by the biker. Medical expenses, including out-of-pocket costs, lost wages and the pain and suffering due to the injury are recoverable. An experienced personal injury lawyer can help by compiling the evidence, interviewing witnesses and using crash reconstruction to prove that the driver was in the wrong.

Driver Error in a Rosemont Motorcycle Collision

Drivers, just like motorcycle riders, have to obey the rules of the road and not engage in activities that can endanger others. Some negligent drivers exhibit the following behaviors:

  • Reckless driving: From tailgating and cutting in and out of traffic to speeding, this type of behavior can lead to a Rosemont motorcycle collision. Speeding is a particularly dangerous activity because, at higher speeds, injuries to a motorcyclist are apt to be worse.
  • Distracted driving: Talking or texting on a cell phone while behind the wheel of a car is illegal and leads to many accidents. Even talking with passengers is distracting. Taking the eyes away from the road for a matter of seconds is long enough to cause a collision.
  • Fatigued driving: Studies show that fatigued driving is surprisingly common. While some may become drowsy, which affects their judgment and reaction time, others fall asleep. This can quickly cause an accident.
  • Drunk driving: Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs leads to over 10,000 fatalities yearly. Poor coordination and judgment, along with vision changes, are a bad combination that can cause a crash with a motorcycle.
