Fulton Avenue Accident Involving Seven Vehicles

A reported DUI driver on January 29 struck a total of six vehicles, three moving and the others parked, resulting in injuries to two minors. The collisions occurred along Fulton Avenue between La Mesa Way and Hernando Road. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that two children were hospitalized after the crash.

Suspected DUI Driver Arrested in Injury Accident

According to the incident report, the alleged DUI driver struck three vehicles that were moving before swerving into three parked cars along southbound Fulton. The driver, age 30, was placed under arrest for suspected drunk driving. One of the minors injured in the collision suffered moderate injuries while trauma to the other was reportedly minor.

The Dangers of Drunk Driving

Drunk driving is a serious crime that can have dangerous and even deadly consequences. When a person operates a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, they put themselves and others at risk of serious harm or death. In addition to the potential for death, drunk driving can also lead to property damage and serious criminal charges. Even a first-time offense as a DUI driver can result in jail time, fines, license suspension or revocation and an increase in car insurance rates.

Recovering Compensation After Being Injured by a DUI Driver

When filing a personal injury lawsuit against a drunk driver in California, it is important to establish that the other party’s negligence directly led to your injuries. In order to prove negligence on behalf of the intoxicated driver, there must be evidence demonstrating that they acted recklessly or carelessly while behind the wheel. This could include evidence of drunk driving or other reckless behavior such as the driver failing to observe traffic laws, speeding or not paying attention to their surroundings.

Recoverable Damages in a Personal Injury Claim

It is also important to prove that the negligent act caused your injuries directly and that you were left damaged by it. Medical bills, lost wages from being unable to work due to your injuries, and other damages should be documented in order to receive compensation for these losses. Additionally, if you were injured as a result of someone else’s negligence or recklessness, then you may also be entitled to punitive damages—which are designed to punish the responsible party for their actions and deter them from repeating similar behavior in the future.

Help to Support Your Injury Claim

If you have been injured by a drunk driver in California, you should seek the assistance of a personal injury attorney to help you recover the compensation that you deserve. A qualified attorney can review your case and advise you on the best steps to take to ensure that your rights are fully protected. With their help, you can make sure that justice is served and receive the full amount of damages for your injuries.
