Redding Motorcycle Accident Causes Fatality
California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that one man suffered fatal injuries during a Redding motorcycle accident that took place on Friday, August 23, 2019. The accident reportedly involved two vehicles including a motorcycle and a pickup truck. Authorities of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office have stated that they are currently withholding the identity of the decedent pending his family’s notification. CHP is reportedly investigating this collision in order to determine what causal factors may have been involved.
Crash Information
Police stated that the collision took place on Airport Road close to the intersection of Charlanne Drive on the southeastern side of the city of Redding. Details about how the collision took place were minimal, but reports indicated that the collision between the motorcyclist and the pickup truck caused the motorcycle to catch fire. Photos taken at the crash scene show accident witnesses attempting to put out the fire with an extinguisher.
Reports stated that bystanders responded to the accident and performed CPR on the motorcyclist before emergency responders reached the collision site. When medics reached the accident site, they were unable to resuscitate the motorcyclist, and the man was sadly declared deceased. Whether or not any other individuals suffered trauma during the accident has not yet been reported.
Investigation
So far, no suspected crash factors have been mentioned by investigators. Collisions like this one can happen for a variety of reasons that commonly include factors not under the control of drivers. Some of the causes include dangerous roadways, defective auto parts, medical issues, and more.
