Recalled SUV That Killed Star Trek Actor

Anton Yelchin was an actor known for portraying Pavel Chekov in the rebooted “Star Trek” series that had recently suffered an unexpected death from his recalled 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The young actor, whom was only 27 years old at the time of the incident, was discovered by his friends after he failed to appear for an audition on Sunday, June 19th.
What Happened?
According to Los Angeles Police Officials, Yelchin’s body was discovered against a mailbox pillar and security fence at his residence. Officer Jane Kim stated that an investigation of Yelchin’s vehicle was conducted for the gear shift position at the time of the accident. Yelchin exited his vehicle momentarily but it was unclear to police officials as to why he was positioned behind his vehicle when it began rolling towards him.
Investigation
The death of Yelchin was later declared as an accident after an autopsy was conducted by Coroner’s officials. Coroner spokesman Ed Winter stated that any signs of toxicology in lab results would not be determined for months.
As National Highway Traffic Safety Administration records state, the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees have been recalled globally in April by Fiat Chrysler whom also makes Jeeps. The 1.1 million vehicle recall was created for a known defect in the gear shifters that causes drivers to believe that their vehicles are in parked gear when they are not and have been reported of rolling away unusually.
Fiat Chrysler made a statement on Monday, June 20th that the crash was under investigation and the cause of the accident is to be determined at a later time. Fiat Chrysler ultimately offered condolences to Yelchin’s family and friends due to the incident.

Yelchin’s unexpected death left an internal impression on his audience and all around the industry for his gifted talent and strong ambition.
