Pedestrian Fatality on Madison Avenue Caused by Fleeing Driver
Authorities in North Highlands are seeking a hit-and-run driver that killed a pedestrian recently in an accident. The collision occurred on Madison Avenue westbound close to Jackson Street at around 5:15 p.m. The pedestrian suffered fatal trauma, and the vehicle believed to have struck the walker fled the scene before California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers arrived.
Authorities Seeking Hit-and-Run Driver
The suspected hit-and-run vehicle being sought was posted on social media following the pedestrian fatality accident. It is described as a maroon sedan, which shows moderate damage to the hood, bumper and windshield. Those who might recognize the vehicle or know who owns it or have other information are requested to call (916) 348-2300, which is the number for the North Sacramento CHP. The identity of the deceased pedestrian is yet to be released pending family notification of the fatality accident by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
How Our Law Firm Searches for a Hit-and-Run Driver
It has been our investigators’ mission for some time to investigate accidents caused by fleeing drivers. Together with law enforcement, we try to find the driver responsible for the accident to hold them liable for their actions. We believe it is difficult enough to lose a loved one in a pedestrian fatality accident. The grieving family should never be responsible for the financial loss, and the driver should pay for their wrongdoing. Some of our investigative techniques include the following:
- Physical evidence is collected at the accident scene by our investigators, which may include paint marks and dropped metal pieces or parts of lights. Because paint colors and other auto parts are exclusive to certain makes and models, this type of evidence can identify the vehicle.
- As part of our investigation, investigators speak to witnesses of the accident to obtain information about the vehicle and the driver.
- We review police reports to check their accuracy and completeness.
- Our understanding of the crash is complete once we have utilized accident reconstruction techniques and obtained surveillance video.
Using an Uninsured/Underinsured Accident Policy to Cover a Wrongful Death
In the event of a wrongful death due to an accident and the hit-and-run driver cannot be found, a family may be left with unexpected financial burdens that can be difficult to manage. An uninsured/underinsured addition to their auto insurance provides additional coverage for such losses. If the deceased person did not have this insurance add-on but another family member does, that can be used instead. The policy rates do not change.
