Pedestrian Suffers Deadly Trauma During Oroville Auto Accident

On Saturday, December 12, 2020, a pedestrian tragically lost her life after being involved in an Oroville auto accident. The pedestrian has not yet been identified, as County authorities are still in the process of notifying her family about the incident. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that this crash happened in the morning and involved several vehicles. The incident remains under investigation.

Crash Details

According to police, the accident happened at around 5:15 a.m. on Highway 70 in the area of Cox Lane just south of Oroville. Reports indicate that the pedestrian was on foot in the #2 lane of the southbound side of the highway. At the same time, a man was driving his vehicle in the same lane approaching her location.

As the vehicle exited a bend, the driver saw the pedestrian and reportedly swerved to avoid her. However, the driver wasn’t able to avoid a crash, and the right-front edge of the car collided with the pedestrian. Following the initial crash, the woman was struck by several other cars that had been traveling behind the first vehicle.

While none of the involved drivers suffered injuries, the pedestrian was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

Investigation

CHP has indicated that driver impairment is not suspected as a factor in this crash but have not mentioned what causes might have been involved. Pedestrian accidents can be complicated events and frequently involve more than one cause. Furthermore, many common pedestrian/auto accident factors aren’t things that pedestrians or drivers can control. Faulty vehicle brakes and poorly designed roads are both examples of non-driver, non-pedestrian collision factors.

Wrongful Death Damages

Learning that your loved one lost their life in an accident can be devastating, and many people in this situation deal with intense grief. Coping with such a loss can take a long time, and those who’ve lost loved ones frequently need to take time away from their normal responsibilities in order to heal emotionally. During such a time, it’s important to seek support from people you love including members of your family, friend groups, and communities.

However, families may have a hard time processing their trauma if their accident has left them with serious economic damages. Fatal accidents can leave families without a source of income or without valuable services that the decedent used to perform. In many cases, this means that families aren’t sure how they’ll be able to afford funeral and burial services or even pay their rent.

Calling an Attorney

Because these issues are so serious, it’s very important to speak with a trustworthy Oroville wrongful death lawyer about recovering compensation for your losses. While it’s not possible to replace a person that you love, families are often able to claim full payments for their economic damages as well as compensation for loss of quality of life.
