Pedestrian Struck by Sheriff’s Vehicle Responding to Emergency in Sacramento

A pedestrian struck by Sheriff’s vehicle responding to emergency was hit as deputies were responding to a domestic violence incident that involved a firearm.  The vehicle belonged to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office in the accident on Sunday night, June 14, 2025,  The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. near Auburn Boulevard and Morse Avenue. According to officials, the deputy’s patrol car clipped the pedestrian, who showed no visible injuries but was transported to the hospital as a precaution. The individual was reported to be walking and talking afterward. The domestic violence suspect in the unrelated call was later taken into custody.

The Importance of Clearing the Way for Emergency Responders

When emergency vehicles approach with lights and sirens activated, it’s critical for all drivers and pedestrians to yield and clear a path. These responders are often racing against time to reach individuals in life-threatening situations. Failing to move over or stop can delay crucial assistance, increase the risk of collisions, and endanger everyone on the road, including those in need of help. By staying alert, pulling over safely, and giving emergency responders the space they need, you play a direct role in saving lives and ensuring public safety.
