One Person Severely Injured in Arcata Bay ATV Crash

On Wednesday, July 29, 2020, one person was seriously hurt during an Arcata Bay ATV crash. According to local California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials, the accident only involved one vehicle and did not injure any other individuals. Updates on the condition of the injured individual have not been reported and the accident is still under an active CHP investigation.

Crash Information

According to police, the incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. An unidentified person was driving an ATV on the western side of Arcata Bay in the small community of Manila. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the ATV and crashed close to the beach to the southwest of the Manila Community Center.

After the accident was called in, emergency responders from CalFire, Arcata Fire, CHP, and Samoa Peninsula Fire were all sent to the scene. Personnel at the crash site determined that the ATV driver had suffered major trauma. The individual was placed on a helicopter ambulance and flown to a hospital for immediate emergency medical care.

Investigation

While CHP is investigating this incident, no reports regarding likely collision factors have been issued. In single-vehicle crashes, there can still be multiple causal factors. Importantly, many common single-vehicle collision factors are not caused by drivers. Non-driver ATV accident factors can include inadequate roadway signage, defective ATV products, and more.

Recovering from a Major Injury

People who suffer injuries in vehicle accidents frequently sustain major trauma. For many collision survivors, the process of recovery is very difficult and can take a long time. In many cases, injured people need surgeries, medicines, physical therapy, and more in order to fully regain their health, and the process can take months or, in some cases, years. This means that crash survivors may need to make major changes to their life for a significant period of time following accidents.

The challenges that crash survivors face aren’t just stressful, they can also be expensive. Medical care can be costly and very difficult to afford if your injury has affected your income. Furthermore, injured people may need to pay for in-home care, vehicle modifications, or other support while they recover.

Calling an Injury Attorney

The issues described above can feel overwhelming. However, it is possible to get help. In many cases, crash survivors are able to obtain compensation for the full amount of damages they’ve suffered through a personal injury claim. The payments from these claims can help people obtain financial security and personal confidence while they recover their health. To learn more, the best thing you can do is to talk personally with an experienced Arcata personal injury attorney.
