One Hurt in Eureka Motorcycle Accident

According to reports from local authorities, one person suffered significant injuries during a Eureka motorcycle accident on Saturday, September 7, 2019. Eureka Police Department (EPD) officials stated that the accident involved two separate vehicles and only injured one person. Updates on the condition of the injured person have not been provided, and this accident remains under official investigation.

Crash Details

EPD stated that the accident took place at around 11:10 a.m. on Broadway street at the intersection of West 15th Street in central Eureka next to the local BevMo. A motorcyclist had been driving a blue Yamaha motorcycle and collided with a white Chevy Malibu inside of the intersection. Exactly what events led up to the crash are not yet reported.

Police say that response staff was sent to the crash site immediately. When they arrived, responders discovered that the motorcyclist suffered significant trauma and had the man transported to a local hospital by ambulance. According to EPD, the motorcycle was totaled as a result of the crash.

Motorcyclist Injuries

Motorcyclists don’t have the same protection that the occupants of passenger vehicles do. Because motorcyclists are exposed to the elements and are very likely to be ejected from their vehicle in the event of an accident, they often suffer serious injuries even in low-speed collisions. Common motorcyclist injuries include bone fractures, road rash, head injuries, and more. Many of these types of injury can have a serious impact on your life and can even cause permanent symptoms. Because these injuries can cause both personal and financial issues, it is important that motorcyclists receive the compensation that they deserve from parties responsible for accidents.

Bias Against Motorcyclists

Unfortunately, it can be difficult for people injured in motorcycle accidents to recover the full amount of compensation that they deserve because of bias against motorcyclists. Although motorcyclists tend to pay more attention to the road than many drivers and usually aren’t the ones who cause accidents, people tend to think of them as reckless, and this can affect the decisions of juries. Even though most cases don’t go to trial, insurers sometimes try to low-ball injured motorcyclists because of this bias.

Because of this, it’s important to have a lawyer who has handled motorcycle cases in the past and knows how to investigate your case, negotiate with insurers, and argue in court effectively on your behalf. Having assistance from an attorney who has successfully worked with motorcyclists can be a vital part in recovering the compensation you deserve for hospital bills, medications, lost income, and other damages related to your accident.
