Deadly Injuries Suffered During Woodland Area Highway Crash

On Thursday, February 18, 2021, one person sadly lost her life as the result of a Woodland area highway crash. According to the Yolo area California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash was a solo-vehicle accident and happened in the morning. The decedent was identified as a woman from Antelope, but county officials are currently withholding her name. The incident remains under active CHP investigation.

Crash Details

The collision reportedly took place at 7:20 a.m. on the southbound side of Highway Interstate 5, a short distance south of County Road 103. The Antelope woman was driving a Honda of unreported model south on the highway when her vehicle, for reasons that are still under investigation, drove off-road. After exiting the highway, the Honda crashed into a center divider made of metal and wood. Further information regarding the circumstances of the crash was not reported.

After police were called about the accident, dispatchers rushed a response team to the site. When officials reached the area, they found that the Honda driver was critically injured. Sadly, the woman reportedly passed away on-site. According to CHP traffic reports, the decedent was the only occupant of the car.

Investigation

As officers investigate what could have been the cause of this crash, CHP has asked for public assistance. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant information about the incident is asked to contact the CHP Woodland Office at (530) 662-4685.

Frequently, single-vehicle accidents are more complicated than they appear and may be caused by a confluence of factors. Additionally, a number of common auto accident factors aren’t controlled by drivers. Examples of this kind of accident factor include driving defective vehicles or using roads with major pavement damage or missing signage.

Private Accident Investigations are Important

Police faced with the challenge of investigating an accident with no survivors often have a hard time fully understanding the collision. Without access to driver testimony, officers are liable to overlook critical evidence during their investigation, potentially making it impossible for families to claim fair payments for the damages that they’ve suffered.

To ensure your family is fully represented during investigations, it’s important that you contact a Woodland wrongful death lawyer. An experienced attorney will be able to launch a private collision investigation in order to hold all at-fault parties financially responsible for the accident.

Finding a Trustworthy Lawyer
