Families Affected by a Pedestrian Fatality

A pedestrian fatality caused by a negligent driver can have a profound and devastating impact on the victim’s family, affecting them emotionally, financially, and legally. Here are some ways that a family might be affected:

  • Emotional trauma: Family members can suffer profound emotional trauma if a negligent driver kills a loved one. Months or even years may pass before they are no longer experiencing shock, disbelief, anger, or grief.
  • Loss of income: The pedestrian’s family may suffer financial hardship after the North Highlands fatal pedestrian crash, especially if the deceased contributed to the household income. As a result of the death of a loved one, they may need to pay funeral expenses, lose income, and cover other costs.
  • Hiring a lawyer: There are also legal issues that the family may need to deal with after the pedestrian dies. The family may need legal assistance if they wish to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver who caused the accident.
  • Family disruptions: Losing a loved one disturbs a family’s daily routine, causing significant disruptions while dealing with the loss. The aftereffects of the accident and the loss of a loved one may require that they take time off from work.
  • Long-term effects: In the case of a negligent driver, the long-term effects can last years. There is a possibility that family members may be experiencing ongoing emotional trauma and struggling with coming to terms with their loss.

The Benefits of Wrongful Death Lawsuits for Families
