Napa Hit-and-Run

On Saturday, September 9, 2017, a hit-and-run crash involving three vehicles left one involved individual with a traumatic back injury. Police officers from the Napa City Police Department (NPD) were able to find and arrest the errant driver.

Accident Details

According to officials, the accident happened at about 8:10 p.m. in Napa City. According to NPD officer Sgt. Nick Dalessi, the collision occurred between three separate vehicles and the driver whose vehicle initiated the collision left the scene of the accident. Reportedly, another driver followed the motorist who attempted to leave the accident site.

The location of the crash, as well as the specific circumstances that caused it, have not yet been reported.

Injuries

Responding medical personnel reported that one individual had been injured in the crash. The individual told authorities that he had suffered an injury to his back. The man received medical attention at the scene of the collision but was not taken to a hospital for treatment.

No other involved parties reported any injuries to responding officials.

The Arrest

Dalessi indicated that police were later called to an apartment complex parking lot on River Glen Drive where the one motorist had followed the fleeing vehicle. There, officers found the 23-year-old male who had driven away and arrested him. The man was booked into the Napa County jail on charges of DUI leading to injury and fleeing from the scene of a collision.

Back Injuries

Injuries to the spinal column suffered during auto accidents have the potential to impact people long-term and can prevent individuals from taking part in everyday activities. Some spinal injuries cause chronic pain that makes it hard for people to focus or do physical tasks, others are severe enough to cause paralysis and permanent disability.

Also, spinal cord injuries aren’t always immediately obvious. What seems like a minor pain may be an injury that left without treatment will continue to worsen and cause serious secondary injuries due to complications. After receiving spinal cord trauma, it is important to have trained medical professionals assess whether or not you are at risk to have complications before resuming your day-to-day activities.

Loss of Income Potential

Many people who receive spinal cord injuries find themselves no longer capable of performing the same labor that they could do before their injuries. For many, this can mean no longer being able to work in the same field and losing the potential for future income. If your injury was caused by a negligent party, you are able to recover for this loss as well as many other damages involved in your case including loss of quality of life, medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and more.
