Napa Driver Injured in Alleged DUI

A woman was seriously injured during a vehicle accident that took place in Napa on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. Officers of the Napa Police Department (NPD) suspect that the vehicle was caused by an intoxicated driver who was also injured during the accident. The alleged DUI driver has since been arrested on felony charges of driving under the influence and booked into the Napa County Jail. An investigation into this accident is ongoing and is being conducted by NPD.

Crash Details

The accident reportedly took place in the Browns Valley neighborhood at around 10:00 p.m. Two vehicles of unreported make and model collided at the intersection of Browns Valley Road and McCormick Lane. Details about what events led up to the crash have not yet been reported.

NPD was contacted about the crash directly after it took place and immediately sent responders to the accident. When officers arrived, they found that one of the drivers had suffered injuries to her neck and stomach. The woman was reportedly treated for her injuries at the Queen of the Valley hospital, but updates on her condition remain unavailable.

Police stated that the second driver, a 28-year-old man, appeared to be intoxicated and physically resisted officers when they attempted to arrest him. After being arrested, the man was treated at a nearby hospital for minor injuries before being released back into the custody of police and booked into jail shortly before midnight.

DUI and Liability

Driving under the influence of any intoxicating substance puts the lives of other people in danger. Those who drive while intoxicated knowingly make this choice and are considered negligent in the event of a crash. This means that those who have suffered injuries in DUI accidents can often hold negligent drivers and/or their insurers responsible for damages including medical bills, car repairs, lost income, and more.

Should I Call a Lawyer?

After being in a crash, people are often in a stressful situation. Recovering from injuries can be painful and often takes a long time. In many cases, crash survivors need to undergo surgeries or physical therapy in order to regain their health. During this time, many are even left unable to do their job and suffer a serious loss of income as a result. Because these situations can be so difficult, it’s important to contact a personal injury attorney to see if you are able to claim payments in order to ensure that you can recover both physically and financially after your accident. The majority of lawyers are glad to offer a free phone consultation where you can receive valuable information about your legal options.
