Sheriff’s Office Closes Area to Investigate Multiple-Vehicle Injury Crash

Information was not provided on the total number of people who suffered injuries or their conditions. However, both drivers were hospitalized. The sheriff’s office blocked the area around the collision in both directions. The roadway was expected to remain shut down until 9:30 p.m. or later.

An Injury Accident and Compensation Recovery

You may be entitled to compensation if a negligent driver caused your accident injuries. Your injury type and severity, as well as the circumstances surrounding your accident, may determine the amount of compensation you are eligible to recover:

  • Your injury-related medical bills are recoverable, even if your trauma has not resolved itself by the time of settlement. Your lawyer can factor in expected future expenses caused by your multiple-vehicle injury crash.
  • Loss of earning capacity or wages is recoverable. In many cases, the injured person cannot work for a period of time. If they lose that income because of it, those wages are recoverable. The salary difference is added if the person has to take a job that pays less. In addition, if the person is permanently disabled and can no longer work, their salary can be recovered until they would have reached retirement age.
  • You can also recover insurance coverage, pension benefits, and the value or other job perks lost due to your inability to work.
  • Pain and suffering damages include physical and emotional distress you suffered due to your multiple-vehicle injury crash.
  • If the accident was intentional or involved egregious negligence on the part of the at-fault driver, such as by drunk driving, the injured person may be able to ask that punitive damages be awarded. Because an award of punitive damages is seldom made, consulting with your lawyer to see whether your case would qualify may be helpful.

Understanding Your Rights With the Help of an Injury Lawyer

Despite injured parties being eligible for compensation, not all claims can recover every type. It can depend on a number of factors, such as educational level, age, severity of trauma and others. The lawyer will be able to provide you with advice regarding what damages are likely to be recoverable in the situation you are in. In addition, you can benefit from working with an attorney who knows the laws surrounding personal injury cases, which will help you obtain the full compensation you are entitled to.
