Multiple Vehicle Accident in Sacramento

A multiple vehicle accident in Sacramento resulting in an injury occurred on September 9 along State Route 51. The accident happened along the southbound side of SR 51 just south of the J Street off-ramp at around 5:30 p.m. The vehicles reported in the accident were a Dodge Challenger, Audi, Toyota Corolla, two pickups and an SUV, which ended up blocking the number two-lane. Tow trucks were required to remove the Toyota and Audi. It was determined by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) that the Audi was an unregistered vehicle. The use of drugs or alcohol was suspected as contributing to the accident, and Central Valley Toxicology was contacted. One of those involved in the collision had a complaint of pain, and emergency responders arrived at the accident site to determine the extent of their injury.

What an Attorney Can Do

Multiple vehicle accidents are often complex. Since there are multiple drivers, it is essential to gather as much evidence as possible to help someone injured in the crash. Our firm does that by promptly dispatching our investigative team to the accident site to scour it for proof the at-fault driver was responsible for the accident. We also interview witnesses and obtain video capture of the crash from traffic cameras and nearby businesses. In the case where a driver is cited for drunk driving or if a vehicle lacks registration, we use this information to augment our case if appropriate. Our legal team then builds a strong case against the defendant.

Multiple Vehicle Accident Causation

It is important to determine what causes a multiple vehicle accident. Sometimes, only one driver is at fault. In many instances, however, more than one driver is partially at fault. When this happens, it is possible for the injured party, or plaintiff, to file a claim against both drivers to obtain damages. It is vital that your personal injury lawyer conduct an investigation into why and how the accident happened. This investigation may use computer models of the accident or other data sources. At the end of the day, our investigators have a clear picture of who is responsible for our client’s injuries.

Impaired Driving

Impaired driving causes more than 10,000 deaths in motor vehicle accidents nationwide. This includes both alcohol and illicit drugs. In some cases, it also includes prescription and over-the-counter drugs that are taken without regard to precautions included in the packaging. In such cases, the driver’s cognitive function is disturbed to the extent that he or she cannot perform the many tasks necessary to drive safely. Such things as speeding, weaving in and out of lanes and not being able to judge distance accurately can result. If a driver is cited for impaired driving in an accident, it becomes part of the record and can be used on your behalf. Since drunk driving is a reckless and negligent act, it helps prove your case that the driver caused the accident.
