Motorcycle Accident in Antelope Injures Biker

Motorcycle Accident in Antelope Injures Biker

A motorcycle accident north of Pfe Road in Antelope occurred on October 30 at about 5:47 in the evening and resulted in injury to the biker. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident involved a collision between a motorcycle and a sedan. The crash caused a traffic flow problem as the road was blocked for a time. Authorities called for a tow truck to remove the motorcycle. The injured biker was taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for evaluation and treatment due to chest and abdominal pain. There is no word at this time whether the motorcycle accident involved drugs or alcohol. The investigation into the crash is continuing at this point.

Why Do Motorcycle Accidents Happen?

There are many reasons why motorcycle accidents occur. Let’s look at some of the most common:

  • Speeding: Driving fast is a major reason for motorcycle accidents. A motorist will be unable to see what is around him or her when speeding. In addition, they will be unable to stop in time to avoid an accident. The impact will also be much greater.
  • Changing lanes: A motorist is required to check if another driver or motorcyclist is in the lane next to them before changing lanes. This obligation can be hampered by their vehicle’s blind spot, forcing them to take additional measures to see if the coast is clear. In addition, lane splitting is popular in California.
  • Dooring: This type of accident happens most frequently on busy urban streets where vehicles park horizontally. If a driver does not carefully check before opening their car door, a serious motorcycle accident can result.
  • Drunk driving: This activity occurs on both urban streets and on the highway. It leaves the driver with poor cognitive judgment and the inability to drive prudently. Drunk driving is responsible for about 10,000 deaths per year.
  • Tailgating: When a motorist tailgates a motorcycle, they are setting themselves up for a catastrophic accident. The motor vehicle is larger than the motorcycle, and hitting the biker from behind often leads to a fatal accident.
  • Left-turn accidents: Motorcyclists are injured and killed when a motorist making a left-hand turn fails to judge the distance between them and the biker. Left-turn accidents also occur when the motorist either does not see the motorcycle or does not yield the right of way to the biker. This often happens in intersections.
  • Motorcycle defects: When a motorcycle is poorly designed or manufactured, an accident can occur. When this happens, your attorney can file a claim against the manufacturer for damages.
  • Poor road conditions: Sometimes, potholes, worn pavement, lack of signage, and other issues can cause a motorcycle accident. When this happens, a claim against the government agency in charge of the roads can be placed.

What an Attorney Can Do to Help

Motorcyclists can be injured or killed in a collision between them and a motor vehicle due to the size differential and the biker’s lack of protection. In this situation, the insight of an attorney can prove invaluable. At our firm, we take every step we can to obtain the compensation the motorcyclist deserves. We dispatch our investigative team to the accident scene to search for evidence helpful in establishing fault and determining why the accident occurred. Our investigators interview witnesses to the motorcycle accident, obtain video footage from traffic lights or nearby businesses and review police reports for errors. Once all this information is accumulated, we release it to our legal team to build a strong case against the motorist.
