Missing Cameron Park Boy

I’m Ed Smith, a Cameron Park personal injury lawyer. Emergency personnel in El Dorado County have been searching for a missing Cameron Park boy. He was last seen near the Cosumnes River Gorge on Sunday, May 29.

What Happened?

The 15-year-old boy was on a hiking trip with his family when he went missing in the Bucks Bar area, near the North Fork of the Cosumnes River. Authorities received a call for help at a little after noon on Sunday.

Emergency personnel spent numerous hours searching for the boy. Various agencies stepped in to help including the California Highway Patrol air resource team, Office of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (ground search) and swift water search.

The search was put on hold Sunday evening at nightfall due to treacherous water conditions and darkness.

The Cosumnes River, like so many of our other local rivers, is running high due to the snow runoff.

On Monday the search team enlisted the help of the Sheriff’s Office dive team. They searched the area of the river where the boy was was last seen. Their work was put on hold until search conditions could improve.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the boy and his family.
