Minor Injuries Reported in Multiple-Vehicle Accident on I-80

A multiple-vehicle accident occurred in Roseville on June 20 that blocked the middle of the freeway and backed up traffic. The crash occurred shortly before 8:00 a.m. along eastbound Interstate 80 just west of the Taylor Road off-ramp. The collision involved a Toyota Highlander, Toyota Camry, and a Mercedes sedan, according to the accident report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP)

Roadside Assistance Helps Direct Traffic After Multiple-Vehicle Accident

Roadside assistance arrived at the scene and was directing the traffic, and emergency responders were called as a precaution. Minor injuries were reported. An investigation is underway by CHP traffic investigators to determine why the collision occurred.

Multiple-Vehicle Crashes and Why They Happen

Multiple-vehicle collisions can occur for several reasons, including:

  • Distractions: Driving while distracted can occur when you text, eat, talk with passengers or get bored can lead to a multiple-vehicle accident. Several seconds of distraction can end up resulting in a serious collision.
  • Fatigue: Those who are fatigued drive with a slower reaction time and a reduced attention span. Sleep apnea, medications, shift work, or staying up late the night before can cause fatigue.
  • Speed: Crashing with more than one vehicle is often caused by speeding.
  • Road debris and poor maintenance: There are all kinds of problems that can occur on a roadway that are negligent. Some of them include damaged pavement, potholes, missing or poorly placed signage and bad overhead lighting. When roadway debris and poor maintenance lead to a multiple-vehicle crash, responsibility may lie with the government agency in charge. Due to the six-month limit in which an injured person can file a claim, getting an injury lawyer’s help could be useful.
  • Sudden braking: Drivers who suddenly slow down can end up causing pile-ups or rear-end collisions. Sometimes, the problem arises from an upstream accident or merging vehicles. It is likely that drivers who hit cars in front of them are distracted or speeding, so they cannot stop in time.

Getting Help After An Accident With Multiple Vehicles

It can be difficult to determine who is at fault in a collision that involves multiple vehicles since more than one driver may be at fault. A multiple-vehicle accident may have resulted from a driver stopping short. Perhaps the driver behind was distracted, drunk or texting and wasn’t able to slow down in time before colliding with the car in front.

Moreover, the collision may result in vehicles leaving their lanes as a result of the impact and hitting other vehicles. If your injuries were caused by negligence, an experienced Roseville personal injury attorney can determine who is responsible and liable for them. We have helped many people receive compensation for their injuries over the years.
