Man Injured After Bicycle Accident in Fresno County

A man in his 60s was injured after a bicycle accident in Fresno County on the afternoon of April 28, 2020. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the bicycle crash occurred on Copper Avenue near Auberry Road. A utility work truck reportedly approached a man riding an electric mountain bike from behind. The driver of the truck attempted to swerve to the left to avoid an accident. Unfortunately, the truck driver’s evasive maneuver was unsuccessful as the side mirror of the vehicle allegedly struck the cyclist in the head. The bicyclist was transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate to serious injuries. An update regarding his condition was not immediately available.

What You Should Do After a Fresno County Bicycle Accident

As a cyclist, you have little to no physical protection from traumatic injuries if you are involved in a collision. It can take a long time to recover from cycling-related injuries like facial scarring, bone fractures, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries on all levels. The last thing on your mind when dealing with medical care and expenses, time away from work, and accidental property damage is navigating a personal injury lawsuit for a bicycle accident on your own. Hiring an experienced Fresno bicycle accident lawyer can make all the difference. Having an injury attorney means that you have the time to focus on recovering from your accident-related injuries as they work to obtain fair financial compensation on your behalf.

Recovering Compensation for Cycling Injury Claims

A bicycle accident often results in catastrophic injury or permanent disability in some extreme cases. If a cycling crash occurred as a result of another driver or entity’s negligence, the cyclist may be able to seek financial compensation for medical expenses, wage loss, and pain and suffering. This can be done by filing a personal injury claim against the insurance company representing the at-fault party. However, the claims process is not always straightforward, especially when the at-fault party has a commercial insurance plan. Since commercial policies often have high bodily injury liability limits, the insurance company may use any tactic to dispute the value of a claim to protect their bottom line.
