Late Night Pittsburg Car Accident

I’m Ed Smith, a Pittsburg car accident lawyer. A multi-car accident in the evening hours injured several people on Highway 4 on August 13, 2017.

What happened?

At approximately 10:30 p.m., four vehicles collided on eastbound Highway 4 near Bailey Road. This is the only official information available about this accident.

Witnesses, however, provide more insight into what happened. People who witnessed the accident report that road rage appears to have played a role. Additionally, witnesses say that at least two of the vehicles were speeding at the time of the accident.

Was anyone injured?

Again, because details of this crash are scarce, there is no definitive information on the injuries suffered in this accident. Witnesses report that at least one victim sustained traumatic injuries.

According to these reports, the accident trapped one person within a vehicle. This victim was then transported to an area hospital after fire crews extricated the victim from the wreck.

Witnesses further add that at least two other people had to be evaluated by paramedics at the scene of the accident.

Similar Injuries in Similar Accidents

An earlier accident on this same stretch of road on 11 August provides insight into possible injuries in this accident. The earlier accident also involved multiple vehicles where emergency crews had to extricate one of the victims.

Injuries suffered in this accident included a cervical sprain (also known as whiplash) and an injured leg.

Common Causes of Late-Night Crashes

The cause of this accident is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), but late-night car accidents often follow a similar pattern. Common causes of late-night car accidents include:

The dangers of driving late at night in this area can be seen in the number of accidents that occur. In fact, at the exact same time as this accident, two other vehicles collided just one highway exit up. This accident was a rear-ender accident, like a car accident earlier in the day on 13 August. As with the morning accident, an unsafe lane change appears to have caused the accident.

Car Accidents Near Bailey Road

This accident was actually the second accident to occur at nearly the same exact time of evening near Bailey Road on 13 August. This was also the third car accident at that location in the same weekend. Car accidents frequently occur near Bailey Road because of the large number of drivers traveling to and from the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station located there.
