An injury hit-and-run involving two to three vehicles was reported on January 22 west of Woodland. Tow trucks were called to remove the vehicles. Information as to the extent of injuries was not provided. The CHP traffic crash unit is seeking the driver who fled from the scene and determining how the accident occurred.

Injuries in Rural Collisions

Roads in rural areas are often poorly marked or kept, and drivers may not obey traffic laws as often, resulting in severe injuries. The most common type of injury is trauma, such as head and brain injuries, fractures, and internal damage. Unfortunately, these types of trauma can lead to more prolonged hospitalizations and mounting medical bills, not to mention lost wages.

An injury lawyer can investigate trauma caused by an injury hit-and-run to determine the responsible party and locate the driver. In addition to gathering evidence, they can negotiate a settlement with the at-fault driver’s insurance company. Occasionally, the lawyer may be able to use the gathered evidence in civil court to prove your case if the insurance company refuses to pay what you deserve.

Compensation Can Be Recovered Through Personal Injury Claims

If a negligent driver causes an accident, injured parties have the right to file personal injury lawsuits to recover damages such as:

  • The cost of medical care may be recovered in a severe injury vehicle accident. All costs associated with ambulance transportation, hospitalization, surgery, physicians’ fees, and rehabilitation therapy are included in this rate. If the injury lasts longer than expected, future treatment costs can be added to the settlement.
  • Pain and suffering compensation: If you are injured in an accident, you may be entitled to compensation for your physical trauma. The compensation may also cover damages to psychological and emotional well-being. An accident can leave people suffering from nightmares, reliving the accident, suffering anxiety, and other powerful aftereffects.
  • Wages: A major injury vehicle accident causing a person to be unable to work may result in the recovery of lost wages. If the injured party cannot perform their previous job or must take a job that pays less due to their injury, the difference in compensation can be recovered. If they are permanently disabled, they can recover their wages until retirement age.
