Injuries Sustained During Trucking Accident in Rio Vista

On Thursday, January 28, 2021, one person was seriously hurt during a trucking accident in Rio Vista. California Highway Patrol (CHP) states that the collision was a single-vehicle accident and happened in the very early morning. The injured driver was reportedly hospitalized, but details about his injuries and updates on his condition have not been released at this time. Additionally, CHP officers state that a full investigation into possible causes of this traumatic trucking crash are ongoing.

Crash Information

The accident happened at around 1:27 a.m. on Highway 12 at the intersection of Highway 113 between Rio Vista and Fairfield. According to police, a big-rig was navigating the wet highway intersection when, for unknown reasons, it overturned and slid down a nearby embankment, coming to rest inside of a ditch on the side of the road.

Response

Emergency responders reportedly arrived at the location at around 1:30 a.m. and found that the truck driver had sustained serious injuries. The individual was driven to a nearby hospital by ambulance for medical care. No other people were inside of the truck at the time of the crash.

Police reports indicated that conditions were too wet to recover the vehicle and that it would remain there at least until the following day. However, the tractor portion of the big-rig was hauled away from the scene by a tow truck.

Investigation

While police are investigating what caused the crash, officers haven’t reported any likely causes. However, collisions like this one are common and often occur because of a variety of factors, many of which truckers don’t have any control over. These kinds of truck accident factors include operating trucks that have malfunctioning parts or using roads with dangerous design or damaged pavement. In both cases, parties such as government entities or vehicle companies may be considered negligent parties and held liable through personal injury claims.

Rollovers are Very Dangerous

Rollover collisions present the risk of “roof crush injuries.” This kind of injury happens when the roof of a car crushes inward, and they tend to be very severe. Roof crush injuries are especially likely with heavy vehicles like trucks and SUVs.

If you suffered a roof crush injury, it may be possible to claim compensation from the truck’s manufacturer. However, you need to be able to prove that the truck was improperly constructed, so it’s important that you preserve the vehicle for your lawyer to use as evidence.

Trucking Accidents Require Quick Action
