Can You Seek Compensation for Damages in a Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Accident Case?

When a family is deprived of a close relative due to a motorcycle collision, survivors may have grounds for a claim for damages against the driver or entity responsible for the crash. Non-economic and economic damages may be sought through a wrongful death action. These may include mental anguish, loss of care, companionship, and affection from the decedent, loss of financial support, funeral and burial costs, and other losses. If the incident was the result of a hit-and-run driver, a family may be able to seek reimbursement through their loved one’s insurance if they have uninsured motorist protection.

It may be challenging to quantify the intangible and tangible losses surviving family members experience after the death of a close relative in a motorcycle crash. Any survivor may feel overwhelmed by the cost of final resting services and medical bills, in addition to immense grief and pain. An experienced attorney can help in these situations by lifting the burden off the family’s shoulders, handling a wrongful death case on behalf of survivors, and allowing them the time needed to grieve and recover in peace. A lawyer can work with a private investigator to locate a hit-and-run driver and hold them liable for damages.
