Accident Injuries at Power Line Road Caused by Hit-and-Run Driver

A hit-and-run accident between two vehicles in Natomas caused injuries recently. The accident occurred around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Power Line Road and Bayou Way, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The vehicle that got struck was totaled in the collision, and someone riding in it was injured. Authorities are conducting an investigation into the cause of the accident and are actively searching for the hit-and-run driver.

Hit-and-Run Collisions

The highest number of hit-and-run fatality accidents occur in California, and injuries are common. Some of the reasons for a hit-and-run include:

  • The driver is intoxicated or using drugs and doesn’t want to get caught by police.
  • The vehicle is uninsured or stolen.
  • The driver has an outstanding warrant or is driving on a suspended or revoked license.
  • The driver has no license.
  • The driver is transporting illegal substances.
  • The driver just panics and flees. In these instances, the driver often turns themselves in to authorities.

Investigating a Hit-and-Run to Locate the Vehicle and Driver

At AutoAccident.com, we have a good record of locating a fleeing driver. We make an effort to do so because we believe it’s bad enough to be injured by a negligent motorist. The injured party should not also have to handle the financial loss. Our investigators search for evidence by doing the following:

  • Our investigators head directly to the accident scene to search for evidence and photograph the site.
  • They perform forensic reconstruction of the hit-and-run accident, which indicates how the vehicles were positioned beforehand, how they impacted, and where they ended up. This type of evidence is accepted by insurance companies and used in civil court because it often points toward which driver was at fault.
  • The investigators interview the witnesses to the hit-and-run. In some instances, a witness may be able to describe the vehicle and/or driver. In others, they may have captured the crash on their cell phone or recall at least part of the license plate number.
  • Traffic and business surveillance cameras in the area are examined to see if the accident was captured on tape. If it was, this evidence can be used to help identify the vehicle and driver.

Once all the evidence has been gathered, it is handed over to our injury lawyers. They use it in constructing a strong case that will benefit our client’s claim for compensation. In this way, the injured party can recover all of their medical expenses, wages that were lost from the inability to work and for their pain and suffering.

Using Insurance to Pay for Your Accident Injuries

When a fleeing driver cannot be located following an injury accident, the injured party has the option of using their own uninsured/underinsured insurance policy to cover their losses. Since California has a high number of drivers who are either without insurance or underinsured, many motorists opt for this insurance rider.

When the injured party does not have this type of add-on insurance, there is another option for them to collect damages. This is by using the uninsured/underinsured policy of a household member. Using a relative’s policy does not affect the rates in the future.
