Hit-and-Run Driver in Industrial Avenue Crash Causes Overturned Vehicle

A driver involved in an accident near Rocklin left the other injured motorist in their overturned vehicle and then fled the scene. The accident happened around 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of Industrial Avenue and the Placer Corporate Center. Upon arrival at the accident scene, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers found a vehicle that had overturned into a ditch with an injured person inside.

Injured Person in Overturned Vehicle Hospitalized

When first responders arrived, they discovered an injured person, who was transported to Roseville Sutter Medical Center with undescribed trauma. Investigators with the CHP traffic collision unit are seeking the hit-and-run driver and determining how the accident occurred.

Rollover Accidents

When an overturned vehicle is involved in an accident, the risk of injuries is heightened. In addition, the vehicle may experience a roof crush, which causes an increase in trauma and reduces the survivable space for those inside. If a rollover occurs, it is vital to preserve the vehicle for examination, especially when the roof caves in. Because manufacturers are required to build strong supports for vehicles so they avoid roof crush, an auto product liability claim may be possible against the designer and others in the manufacturing line.

Locating the Hit-and-Run Driver

Locating the fleeing driver in an overturned vehicle accident is important, so they can be held responsible for their behavior. Over the years, we’ve successfully located a number of hit-and-run drivers by going to the accident scene and gathering evidence to identify the fleeing person. Investigations often include checking surveillance cameras, talking to witnesses, and checking the scene for paint scrapes and metal that can be matched to a particular make and model of vehicle and others. When the driver is located, a personal injury lawsuit can be filed against them.

Compensation for Injuries Sustained in Accidents

Compensation in an accident varies from person to person and the extent of trauma they suffered. An injury accident may be compensated by:

  • Medical: Compensation for past and future medical expenses such as hospitalization, surgery and rehabilitation may be available if you have been injured in a collision.
  • Wages: An injured person can recover lost wages if he or she cannot work due to the injuries.
  • Physical pain and emotional suffering: You may be entitled to recover compensation for the pain and suffering you have experienced due to your injury.

Insurance Coverage to Cover Injury Claims

If the driver cannot be located, the injured party can use their uninsured/underinsured auto policy to recover compensation. If the injured person does not carry this insurance rider and another member of the family has it, theirs can be used. The cost of the policy in the future remains unaffected.
