Hit-and-Run Driver Causes Injuries on Douglas Boulevard

A hit-and-run in Roseville on October 3 caused injuries to one person. The collision occurred at the intersection of Douglas and Harding Boulevards around 12:30 in the afternoon. Officials with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) are looking for the suspect vehicle, which they said could be an SUV or minivan.

The fleeing driver was last seen heading west along Douglas Boulevard. An investigation is underway by the CHP traffic accident unit to locate the driver and determine what happened.

Hit-and-Run Numbers Growing in California

Over the past decade, the number of hit-and-run deaths has increased alarmingly. The number of fleeing drivers in California reached an all-time high of 3,348 from 2012 to 2022. This escalation poses a problem for drivers since an at-fault party may not be immediately located. Police departments are stretched to the limit, which is why our firm does everything within its power to place liability. We interview witnesses and use videos from surveillance cameras and local businesses. By locating the driver and using the evidence we found, we can build a strong case that supports our client’s compensation claim.

Why Are So Many Hit-and-Run Accidents Occurring?

There are a number of reasons hit-and-run accidents happen, such as:

  • Distracted driving: Crashes, both hit-and-run and others, are directly related to the number of distracted drivers. When a driver takes their focus off the road, the risk of an accident is higher. Some distracted drivers decide to run rather than face responsibility.
  • Immigration concerns: As the number of illegal immigrants soars, more hit-and-runs might result. The illegal driver may be fearful and choose to run whether or not they are at fault for the accident.
  • Uninsured motorists: The number of uninsured drivers is directly linked to the economy’s variance. Fleeing is preferable in their mind than being caught with an uninsured vehicle.
  • Impaired driving: Whether it is due to alcohol or drugs, the number of impaired drivers has grown. Leaving the scene of an accident can be due to their fear of being charged with a DUI.

When The Hit-and-Run Driver Is Not Located

On some occasions, the hit-and-run driver cannot be located despite a thorough investigation. In such cases, there are things you can do to alleviate the costly medical expenses and lost wages an innocent driver may incur. This includes using your uninsured/underinsured insurance. This add-on policy pays for the economic cost of the crash. The add-on is offered to every driver in California. If you decided against taking the offer and someone in your immediate household did, you can use it without penalty.
