Head Trauma and Other Causes of Headaches After a Car Accident

You could be experiencing some extreme headaches or head pain after your car accident, and this can be completely normal, especially in the case of head trauma.  Your pain may come from not having adequate treatment for your head trauma, or it could be from post-traumatic stress disorder.  These headaches can often be so debilitating that you’re unable to handle your everyday tasks.

Signs and Symptoms

There are a number of signs and symptoms that you need to keep in mind for your risks of headaches.

– An aching head pain

This list is not exhaustive, and if you feel that your headaches are becoming a problem, speak with your doctor for additional treatment.

Headaches and Children

Adults are not the only ones that can experience headaches after a car accident.  Children can also experience stress headaches and headaches due to injuries after this type of traumatic event.  It is essential that you monitor your child for this type of head pain, and get them the care that they need in case the pain is not letting up.  Your child may not tell you about what they are experiencing, so it’s helpful to notice if the child is touching their head, rubbing their eyes, or acting out of character. Children may also experience migraines that may manifest with other symptoms such as nausea or abdominal pain. Children may experience more typical migrane symptoms that include sensitivity to light or loud noises that are making the headache worse.
