Guardrail Impales Car in Vallejo Crash

A woman from Sacramento suffered serious trauma during a crash that took place near Vallejo during the afternoon of Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Officers of California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that the accident involved one vehicle which had been carrying two occupants. While the 33-year-old passenger was severely hurt, the 18-year-old driver did not suffer any serious physical injuries. CHP is still at work investigating this terrible accident.

Crash Information

According to officers, the collision happened on Highway 37 at about 1:45. The 18-year-old had been driving a black Toyota Highlander eastbound on Highway 37 just outside of Vallejo city limits on 37 west of Sonoma Boulevard. Reports stated that the vehicle veered into the right-hand highway shoulder and drove directly into a roadside guardrail. The rail went completely through the SUV and struck the Sacramento woman. Pictures of the crash site show serious damage to the front end of the SUV with the guard rail protruding from both ends.

Response and Investigation

Emergency staff was immediately called to respond to the accident. When they arrived, they discovered the vehicle passenger was seriously hurt and had her rushed to a nearby hospital to receive emergency care. Updates on the woman’s condition were not available at the time of reporting.

Officials of CHP report that they are trying to find out what caused this crash. Single-vehicle accidents are common and can be caused by a variety of factors. Common crash factors include driving while distracted, defective vehicle parts like brakes, steering systems, or accelerators, medical issues that affect the driver’s ability to control their car, roadway hazards, and more.

Recovering from a Serious Injury

Auto accidents are liable to cause injuries that are very serious. People who suffer serious injuries often face a hard road to recovery that can take months or even years. Many crash survivors are even left with trauma that affects them for the rest of their lives. The process of returning to your normal life can be very difficult and, for many, involves medical procedures like surgeries, physical therapy sessions, numerous medications, and more.

Beyond strictly medical concerns, crash survivors also often need to modify their lives while they are recovering. During the recovery process, people may need to make changes to their homes to improve accessibility or may need to pay for in-home care. Additionally, healing from an injury can mean that you need to take time away from your job as well as the hobbies that you enjoy. These factors can be stressful and are likely to cause mental and emotional issues as well.

Recovering Financially

All of the above damages can leave crash survivors and their families feeling overwhelmed. However, many are able to cover these costs by claiming compensation by filing a personal injury claim. The payments available through injury claims vary from case to case, so it is best to speak to a Vallejo personal injury lawyer before deciding to take any action.
