Fatality and Multiple Casualties Reported in Larkin Road Head-On Crash

A head-on crash in Live Oak, north of Yuba City, occurred on May 28 that caused a fatality and multiple injuries. The accident happened on southbound Larkin Road just north of Riviera Road around 1:41 p.m. when a Ford F-150 pickup and a Toyota crashed together. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers who responded to the accident called emergency responders with the Sutter County Fire Department to the scene, where they assessed injuries.

Multiple People Hospitalized After Head-On Crash

Four to five patients were found, including one person who was deceased. One of the drivers and two passengers were transported to Marysville to Rideout Memorial Hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The other driver was taken to Enloe Medical Center in Chico. CHP traffic collision investigators are working on determining why the accident happened and to assign fault.

Accident Compensation for Fatalities and Injuries

In the event that you were injured or a loved one died in a traffic crash, you may be entitled to compensation. When filing a personal injury claim, the first step is to identify who is legally responsible for the accident and whether their negligence caused your injuries or the death of a loved one. If the driver whose car was involved in the accident was not in compliance with the law, or if the road maintenance was inadequate, a third party may be responsible for paying your damages.

Collision Claims After a Head-On Crash

If you want to receive personal injury compensation, you will have to file a claim against the at-fault party and their insurance company. Your lawyer can help you gather evidence of negligence, including witness testimony, police reports, and photos of the accident scene, if you are filing a personal injury claim. A number of other documents, including medical records and lost wages, may be required to prove damages.

Filing a Wrongful Death Claim When a Loved One Dies

For wrongful death claims, similar processes apply. The family needs to prove lost wages and future earnings, pain and suffering, funeral and burial expenses, among other things, in order to be compensated. In a wrongful death claim, either the administrator of the estate or immediate family members may file such as the spouse and children of the deceased.
