Details on the Fatal Truck Crash on SR-120 Near Stockton

A preliminary report revealed that a sedan was involved in a traffic collision with a big rig. CHP traffic officers reported major property damage in the crash. Escalon PD arrived at the scene to divert traffic on SR-120 to Van Allen Road and Sexton Road. Damage to a PG&E pole was reported in the crash, described as cracked but not leaning.

Sadly, at least one party suffered fatal injuries in the big rig crash. Officials have recently identified the decedent as 67-year-old Rodney Blanco of Sonora.

Things to Know About Big Rig Crashes and Financial Recovery

Given that a tractor-trailer is larger and outweighs a passenger vehicle, a traffic collision involving a big rig may result in devastating consequences for others on the road. The injuries that an occupant of a passenger vehicle may suffer in this type of accident may include amputations, broken bones, spinal cord injuries, and TBI. In some cases, making a full recovery is not always possible, such as those involving catastrophic injuries. This may mean that an injured party is unable to work and require assistance through medical appliances and caregivers to maintain a quality of life. Such losses, along with others, may be recoverable in a personal injury lawsuit filed against the negligent party and their insurer.

There is a wide array of reasons for big rig crashes, most of which are preventable with respect to awareness and responsible driving. Some of the other common causes of semi-truck collisions may include distracted driving, overloaded cargo, speeding, DUI, and fatigue. Most of these reasons are preventable on the part of the truck driver and trucking company. In other cases, other parties may be at fault for the incident, such as a truck manufacturer for faulty big rig parts and equipment. To bring a successful case forward, the evidence must prove that the other side’s negligence was the direct cause of the incident and resulting damages. Remember that a letter of preservation of evidence must be sent to all parties immediately before it is lost or destroyed over time.

In some extreme cases, a tractor-trailer crash may result in loss of life. When this occurs, surviving family members may bring a wrongful death claim against the other side for damages incurred. This may include but is not limited to recovery of funeral arrangement costs, medical bills, mental anguish, lost companionship, lost future earnings, and more. Seeking reimbursement for such losses may not always be a straightforward process due to the potential involvement of difficult insurance carriers and defense counsel. An experienced Stockton truck accident lawyer can obtain justice by holding the at-fault party liable and seeking a settlement that provides the financial support needed to cover what the big rig crash has cost you and your family.
