Fatal Pedestrian Crash Near Highway 101
The California Highway Patrol reported a recent fatal pedestrian crash near Highway 101 in Mendocino County. The car vs. pedestrian accident took place around 4:20 a.m. on the West Road offramp from southbound Highway 101, CHP traffic officers reported.

A preliminary report by authorities revealed that a pedestrian was walking along the West Road offramp when he was allegedly struck by a Chevrolet Traverse SUV. Officials indicated that the point of impact was to the front right side of the SUV. The crash reportedly propelled the pedestrian down an embankment.
The SUV driver immediately pulled over and contacted emergency personnel. Authorities said that she was uninjured and was not suspected of DUI. Sadly, the pedestrian suffered fatal injuries in the incident. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has recently identified the decedent as 43-year-old Robert Jay Watson of Stockton. Additional information on the fatal pedestrian accident off southbound Highway 101 was not immediately available.
