Seeking Justice and Financial Recovery in a Wrongful Death Action
A traffic collision or another type of accident that results in the loss of life is truly a tragic event. A death from a crash caused by another party’s negligence or carelessness is one too many. The unfortunate reality is that many fatal accidents occur in California, including Kern County, each year. Each and every loss may have a lasting effect on surviving family members. It may be impossible for life to be the same for survivors who lost someone they love, especially if another party is liable for the tragedy. A wrongful death action can be filed against the at-fault party to seek reimbursement for the resulting losses.
There is no price that can be placed on a loved one’s life. However, it is essential to hold the other side financially accountable for the loss and their negligence. Eligible survivors may be able to receive compensation in a wrongful death case for non-economic and economic damages. These may include mental anguish, loss of income, funeral costs, loss of companionship, expenses for end-of-life treatment (through a survival action), and other losses. A skilled California wrongful death lawyer can work to ensure that justice and full compensation is sought in your case for you and your family.

How Much Time Do You Have to Bring a Case for Wrongful Death?
Eligible survivors generally have two years to file in civil court for wrongful death. This is by CCP 335.1. This must be done if a settlement is not reached with the other side within that time limit. When a claimant fails to file the case within the statute of limitations, they may lose the opportunity to seek reimbursement for their losses. Do not let this happen to you and your family, and hire a compassionate and experienced California accident attorney immediately.
