Fatal Head-On Crash on Road 27 in Madera County

Authorities in Madera County reported a fatal head-on crash on Road 27 on the evening of Wednesday, February 9, 2022. The traffic collision took place at Avenue 17 and Road 27 around 6:15 p.m. and involved three vehicles.

Details on the Fatal Head-On Crash on Avenue 17 and Road 27 in Madera County

A preliminary report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) revealed that a Chrysler 300 was headed northbound on Road 27 while a Nissan Rogue was traveling southbound on Road 27. The Chrysler driver allegedly made an abrupt left-hand turn onto Avenue 17 in the direct path of the Nissan. Officials said that the Chrysler reportedly clipped the Nissan, causing the Nissan to veer out of control and collide head-on with a northbound Ford F-350 hauling a trailer.

The front seat passenger of the Rogue, identified as a male adult, and a passenger in the rear, a 11-year-old girl, both suffered serious injuries. The child was transported via ambulance to Valley Children’s Healthcare, and the man was taken by air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Family members said that the child and the man are out of the ICU and are expected to be ok.

Sadly, the Nissan driver succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Officials indicated that the three occupants of the Nissan were family members. The decedent, 49-year-old Patricia Vargas, was the mother of the injured child, according to authorities. A GoFundMe page has been established on behalf of Ms. Vargas and her family to help cover final resting costs.

The Chrysler driver was reportedly arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). Additional information on the fatal car accident on Road 27 and Avenue 17 in Madera County was not immediately released by CHP traffic officers due to ongoing investigation.

Motor Vehicle Collisions and Insurance Claims

In some car accident cases, the question of whether there is enough liability coverage to pay for damages incurred may come to mind, particularly when there are traumatic injuries and death involved. In the event that a driver causes a traffic collision and has minimum liability coverage or none at all, the claimant may turn to their insurance policy for recourse. Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage may come into play up to the limits of the insurance plan. This type of coverage is not required in California but is essential to carry as a way of protecting you and your loved ones if you ever find yourselves involved in a motor vehicle crash caused by a negligent driver.

When the unexpected happens, and you have been injured or lost a loved one in a car wreck, it is essential to discuss your case with an experienced accident attorney first. The reason is that insurers are not looking out for you and your family’s best interests. The unfortunate reality is that they are focused on protecting their bottom line, and accomplishing that often requires paying as little as possible on claims or outright denying them. Dealing with difficult insurance companies should be the least of your worries after you have been injured or lost someone you love in a crash. This is where the assistance of an experienced injury lawyer may make all the difference. Unlike the insurance company, you can depend on your attorney to protect your rights and interests throughout the claims process to secure a fair outcome on your behalf. Why is it Important to Hire a Lawyer for a Car Accident Case?

Aside from protecting your rights and interests as a claimant, an experienced attorney can handle all aspects of your case, all while you focus on recovering and getting your life back on track. A lawyer understands the unique challenges that may be involved in a head-on collision resulting in traumatic injuries and wrongful death. Some of which may include liability for the incident being contested by the at-fault party and their insurance company, in addition to disputes regarding damages incurred.

A Madera wrongful death lawyer will work with their team of experts to pinpoint direct causation and determine the true value of resulting losses. A family can also depend on their attorney to hold the negligent driver accountable for their actions, such as driving under the influence. This will typically take the form of seeking punitive damages from the at-fault party. The value of these damages will ultimately be determined by a judge or jury. This way, the attorney can ensure that the claimant is fairly compensated for the undue harm they have endured because of someone else’s negligence.
