Fatal Accident Peabody Road Vacaville

accident peabody road vacaville

I’m Ed Smith, a Fairfield personal injury attorney. Two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions along Peabody Road in close proximity to the city limits of Vacaville and Fairfield  just before 12:30 am on the morning of Wednesday, December 21, 2016. For reasons that are not known, the two vehicles collided with one another causing a fiery and tragic crash.

What Happened?

A motorist  in a sedan was traveling along Peabody Road at about the same time that an SUV was traveling in the opposite direction. For unknown reasons, the sedan and the SUV collided with each other head-on in the vicinity of the entrance to the California State Prison at Solano and Chuck Hammond Drive.

Witness Recalls Fatal Crash

Oscar Marshall was a witness that observed the auto accident in his rear-view mirror. Marshall immediately turned his vehicle around and drove back to the scene of the collision. By the time Marshall arrived to assist the injured occupants both vehicles caught fire. Marshall was able to rescue one male occupant from the SUV but sadly was unable to save the two occupants in the sedan. According to authorities, the man that was rescued by Marshall was transported to the hospital with unspecified burn injuries. Unfortunately, the other two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.

We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the victims killed in this tragic accident.

Peabody Road Closure

Officers from the Fairfield Police Department closed down Peabody Road on this day until 10:00 am to conduct a thorough investigation into the crash. Commuters that travel along Peabody Road are being advised to use Vanden Road as an backup route, until their investigation is completed.

Who Caused the Accident?

It is still too soon to know for sure. It typically takes a week or two for an investigating agency such as the California Highway Patrol (CHP) or the Fairfield Police Department to release a report of their findings. Sometimes the traffic collision report is inconclusive or in error regarding fault. For this reason, an injured victim or family member of a deceased party should contact and experienced personal injury attorney. A good attorney will go out to the scene and investigate the sequence of events leading up to the crash in order to determine liability (fault). If a driver is found negligent, the personal injury attorney can help the victim or his or her family members recover compensation for their damages.
