Peabody Road Accident Traps Injured Woman in Vehicle

A Fairfield woman suffered major injuries in a traffic accident involving a dump truck on September 19. The accident happened along Peabody Road around 11:30 a.m., and the woman became trapped inside her vehicle due to the collision. She was extricated from her vehicle by firefighters with the Fairfield Fire Department, who used tools to free her.

The woman had suffered major injuries in the crash but was conscious. She was transported to a trauma center for the treatment of her injuries. The roadway remained shut down until shortly before 1:00 p.m. The accident is under investigation by the police department to determine how it occurred.

Accidents Involving Large Trucks

It is common for a large commercial vehicle, such as a dump truck to cause a serious traffic accident involving smaller vehicles. Truck drivers may be negligent when they cause an accident because of the following reasons:

  • Inexperienced drivers can cause traffic crashes when operating large trucks.
  • Distractions such as texting or talking on a cell phone keep the driver’s eyes off the road.
  • In a turn at too high a speed, the driver loses control, resulting in the dump truck rolling over.
  • Drivers who speed are more likely to collide with other vehicles than those who do not.
  • In a traffic accident, the truck was not maintained regularly by the company employing the driver.

Why Do I Need a Lawyer to Help Me Recover Compensation?

A traffic collision involving a big commercial vehicle can be complicated, and more than one entity or person may be liable for injuries. For example, although the driver may have been negligent, the owner of the vehicle or trucking company might have been also. An injury lawyer can determine who is at fault for your accident injuries, so you can recover the compensation that you deserve.

The Lawyer Collects the Evidence Needed to Support Your Claim

Saying someone else was negligent and caused your traffic accident injuries is one thing. Proving it is something else. Your lawyer will investigate your case to gather the evidence needed to support your claim. This may include performing accident reconstruction, looking for surveillance cameras that captured the traffic accident on tape and interviewing witnesses.

Gathering Records and Handling Your Claim

The lawyer gathers your lost expenses and calculates your damages. He/she also deals with the insurance company of the at-fault party on your behalf. Cases such as these reach settlement about 95 percent of the time with the insurance company. If no satisfactory settlement can be reached, the lawyer is prepared to take the case to civil court to obtain fair compensation for you.
