Pedestrian Injured in Eureka Hit-and-Run

On Friday, November 29, 2019, the Eureka Police Department (EPD) reported the severe second pedestrian crash within a week. According to police, the accident was a hit-and-run, and the pedestrian was severely injured. Updates on the pedestrian’s condition remain unavailable. Additionally, EPD reports that they do not have information regarding a suspected vehicle or person but are actively investigating the crash.

Collision Details

The accident happened at an unknown time at the intersection of 5th and T Streets. EPD officers patrolling the area reported that they found an injured pedestrian lying on the road at about 1:00 a.m. The officers called for an ambulance right away. Further information about the accident has not yet been reported.

EPD has asked for public help with finding the missing driver and vehicle. Anybody who may have seen the crash or has information regarding the whereabouts of the missing driver is encouraged to call (707) 441-4032 to aid officers with their investigation. Callers should ask to speak with Detective Watson, who handles this accident.

Another Recent Eureka Pedestrian Crash

This accident happened just one week after another severe pedestrian accident in Eureka. The prior crash happened at 5:30 p.m. at the gas station located at the intersection of Harris and California Streets. A driver reportedly failed to notice a pedestrian while turning left to enter Harris Street. Reports indicated that the pedestrian suffered injuries to her face.

Hit-and-Run Injuries

When accidents leave people with serious injuries, the responsible driver can usually be liable for damages. However, in a hit-and-run accident, this driver may never be located, and injured individuals often worry about how they will be able to pay for their medical bills and other expenses related to the crash. However, those injured during a hit-and-run crash can often obtain compensation through their insurance policy.

Claiming insurance payments after hit-and-run accidents is possible through “Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage.” In California, this coverage is an optional part of your policy, and the amount your insurer will pay out varies depending on your case. Often, insurers will attempt to lowball injured parties and won’t offer to fully cover your losses. In these cases, it’s crucial to have an experienced Eureka personal injury lawyer who can argue with insurers to ensure you receive the full compensation you deserve.

Finding an Excellent Lawyer

Injury cases are essential, and having an excellent lawyer is critical. However, many people aren’t sure how to tell if an attorney has the right skills, resources, and experience to effectively handle a severe injury case. However, it’s better to get in touch with a lawyer as soon as possible so that he or she can start working on your case immediately.
