Elk Grove Man Dies in Yuba City Area Collision

Police reported a fatal crash in Sutter County on Monday, January 21, 2019. The accident left one person with fatal injuries. The man was identified as a 22-year-old from the city of Elk Grove. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the crash involved only one vehicle and happened at night a day earlier in an unincorporated area of the county. The man’s full identity has not been released pending his family’s notification, and CHP says they are investigating the crash. I would like to send my condolences to the fatally injured man’s family and friends while they are mourning their tragic loss.

Collision Information

CHP stated that the Elk Grove man had been driving a Chevy Camaro to the south of Cornelius Avenue on Pleasant Grove Boulevard. Investigators say that they think the man had been heading north on Pleasant Grove at about 10:30 p.m. when he approached a closed area of roadway. The area had signs indicating that traffic was blocked due to a flooded portion of road ahead. Police say the Camaro crashed into a pool of standing water. The collision caused the vehicle to overturn, and the car came to a rest on its roof in a flooded ditch.

Officers who responded to the crash scene say that the driver passed away from injuries that he suffered in the crash. CHP stated that no other vehicles or people were involved in the accident.

Investigation

CHP says they do not know what caused the driver to crash. So far, investigators have not stated any possible accident causes. Single-vehicle crashes are common in rural areas and often happen at night. Some common single-vehicle crash factors include faulty vehicle parts, medical issues, dangerous roads, and more.

Wrongful Death Damages

When people die in car accidents, it comes with many consequences for families. After first learning about a fatal crash, people are often overcome with grief. This grief can cause many different emotions including sadness, anger, confusion, and anxiety. Altogether, these emotions are often overwhelming and make it hard for people to focus on their daily lives. This makes it even harder for families to deal with the financial effects of a fatal crash.

The costs of fatal accidents are often huge. Losing a family member can mean losing a source of income and families sometimes need to pay for medical expenses related to the crash. On top of this, many people are shocked at the high price of funerals and burials. However, accidents are usually caused by negligence and negligent parties can be held responsible for these losses. This can be done through a “wrongful death claim.”

Calling a Personal Injury Lawyer

Working up the energy to contact an attorney can be hard. This is understandable, and people should do everything they can to help themselves emotionally after fatal accidents. However, negligent parties usually don’t wait to start defending themselves. Having legal help right away can be vital to claiming fair payment for your losses. A good Yuba City wrongful death lawyer will be able to listen with compassion and help you understand your options. To learn about finding a good lawyer, see this video:
