Injury Accident Involving Pedestrian Reported at Fruitridge Road Intersection

A hit-and-run driver caused a pedestrian injury accident involving an alleged transient in Sacramento on April 8. The accident happened at the intersection of Fruitridge Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 8:06 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). A caller to the Sacramento police reported that there was an injured male in the roadway.

Witness Reportedly Saw the Pedestrian Injury Accident as It Happened

A witness saw the accident as it happened at a stop light at the intersection and said the black sedan that struck the pedestrian continued on at MLK Boulevard. Authorities are in search of the hit-and-run driver and determining how the accident occurred. No information was provided on the extent of injuries to the pedestrian.

How a Lawyer Locates a Hit-and-Run Driver Following a Pedestrian Injury Accident

Locating a fleeing driver following a pedestrian injury accident can be a difficult task. However, an experienced lawyer can take several steps to identify the driver and hold them accountable for their actions. Throughout the years, our law firm has successfully located a number of fleeing drivers to hold them financially responsible for the injuries they have caused. Here are some ways a lawyer can locate a hit-and-run driver:

  • Contacting witnesses: Witnesses to the accident can provide valuable information about the driver and their vehicle. A lawyer can speak with witnesses to obtain a description of the driver, the license plate number of the vehicle, or any other details that can help identify the driver.
  • Surveillance footage: Surveillance cameras in the area where the accident occurred may have captured footage of the driver or their vehicle. A lawyer can review any available footage to help identify the driver.
  • Police reports: The police may have responded to the scene of the accident and filed a report. The report may contain information about the driver and their vehicle that can be used to identify them.
  • Private investigators: A lawyer can hire a private investigator to help locate the hit-and-run driver. Private investigators have access to specialized databases and resources that can aid in identifying the driver.

Filing a Claim Once the Driver Is Located

Once the hit-and-run driver is identified, a lawyer can take legal action to hold them accountable for their actions. This may include filing a personal injury lawsuit on behalf of the pedestrian to recover compensation for their injuries, medical expenses and other damages caused by the accident.

Using Uninsured/Underinsured Insurance

Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage can help you recover money for medical expenses and other costs if you’re injured by a hit-and-run driver who can’t be found. In the event the injured party does not carry this add-on policy, they can use a family member’s uninsured/underinsured insurance. Using it will not affect the policy rates in the future.
