Oceanside Earth Day Festival

The largest Earth Day Festival is about to open in downtown Oceanside, California, on April 27. April is Earth Month, and nothing could be more fitting than the Oceanside Earth Day Festival for celebrating the many wonders of the earth. See sparkling entertainment along with environmental organizations and other activities. For the past 10 years, the Earth Day Festival has been growing, becoming one of the largest in the North County area.

Green Oceanside

The Green Oceanside campaign helps residents and visitors to understand how to better conserve the earth’s natural resources. It also teaches them how to preserve the world’s environmental treasures. Through community engagement and involvement, the city of Oceanside works to achieve this end. This includes city departments, community groups, local businesses, residents and schools. Green Oceanside promotes its agenda through programs and events.

Earth Festival 2019

The Oceanside Earth Day Festival marks community unity in protecting the environment. It is in its 10th year and promises an enjoyable time for the whole family. It is scheduled for Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Oceanside Pier, View Way and North Tremont Street in Oceanside.

The festival and Green Oceanside celebrate all sustainability efforts such as zero waste, clean water, energy conservation and combating climate change. Local schools and community groups such as O’side Kitchen Collaborative provide demonstrations. Enjoy local bands too. This festival shows how Oceanside is at the forefront of environmental efforts to maintain a healthy, green and beautiful city.

The festival is family-friendly and lets youngsters enter the Kids-Eco Zone, and admission is free.  In addition, residents and visitors can learn about sustainable food growing and how food waste can be fought. Local food vendors will be on hand to show you how to be part of the farm to table movement in Oceanside. Explore the Vintage Market for clothes and unique gifts. If you take your bicycle to the festival, enjoy a free bike valet service.

Other Earth Month Events

Residents are asked to participate in other events to show their support for keeping Oceanside green. They are:

  • Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation: This offers residents a chance to show their support for water conservation. It runs from the beginning of April until the 30th. By conserving water, residents can be eligible for prizes and the benefit of knowing they are doing what they can for the city.
  • Fix-a-leak program: This is available on Friday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m until noon. It occurs at the Oceanside Community Rooms, 300 N. Coast Highway. Send an email to [email protected] to reserve a space.
  • Loma Alta Creek Cleanup: Meet up at Oceanside Pier and Buccaneer Beach on April 27 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. to take part. Go to I Love a Clean San Diego to find out more about this option.
  • National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day: This worthwhile event takes place at the Tri-City Medical Center, 4002 Vista Way. It happens on April 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • 2019 WaterSmart Landscape Contest: All entries for this contest must be in by April 26. It is a contest where participants showcase water-saving landscapes. It’s possible to win $250 for sharing your pictures. The contest is available to all residents. Photos will be judged on the beauty of the landscape and its water efficiency. Other criteria are the efficiency of the water irrigation system and whether plants are appropriate. Go to the Landscape Contest website for entry forms, rules and requirements to enter the contest.

Accident Compensation

Enjoying great events is one of the many reasons to live in or near Oceanside. However, the risk of a traffic accident increases when large crowds are gathering at a location off a major freeway. If you or someone you care about is injured because of an individual or entity that is negligent, I may be able to help. Those who suffer personal injuries can claim financial compensation for their medical costs, pain and suffering, and lost wages. An experienced lawyer can help by dealing with the insurance company in your stead. If this is unsuccessful in obtaining the money you need to pay your bills, the lawyer can build a case to present in civil court that will accomplish this.
