The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Fort Tejon area office reported a crash involving six teenagers in Gorman on the early morning of Friday, May 21, 2021. Details on the Gorman Crash Involving Six Teenagers

A preliminary investigation by CHP traffic officers revealed that six teenagers were involved in a single-vehicle accident. The driver of the car was identified as a 19-year-old Riverbank man. Officers determined that for reasons described as unknown, the driver allegedly turned the vehicle to the right after traveling down Interstate 5. This resulted in a crash with the asphalt curb and driving down an embankment.

The vehicle flipped over during the accident. One of the parties in the vehicle, identified as a 16-year-old girl, was allegedly ejected from the car. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The four other passengers in the vehicle were identified as minors ranging in age from 14 to 19 years old. Three teenagers were identified as residents of Modesto, while the other one was from Oakdale. Further details on the fatal car accident were not immediately available.

Loss of a Loved One in a Wrongful Death Car Accident

When a family has suffered the unexpected loss of a close relative, the last thing on their mind may be taking legal action against those responsible. However, it is essential to keep in mind that seeking justice on behalf of a loved one lost in a wrongful death car accident can play a pivotal role in serving as a message for the community that negligence of any type will not be tolerated.

An experienced Modesto wrongful death attorney understands the challenges survivors experience after fatal car accidents. That is why it is their goal to protect surviving family members from difficult insurance companies and defense counsel looking to downplay the value of their wrongful death claims or outright denying them. Each family impacted by such a situation deserves justice and fair compensation for their loss, and an attorney can obtain that on their behalf.

When a family is prepared to take legal action, it is best to schedule a free consultation with the best wrongful death lawyer in the area. An experienced lawyer will know the best way to proceed in the case, including identifying other potential negligent parties such as automakers for failure to manufacture vehicles that meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 216 on roof crush resistance in a rollover collision. Fatal Auto Accidents and Wrongful Death Laws in California

When a fatal crash results in the loss of a loved one, survivors may seek economic and non-economic damages for their loss. These include costs of medical treatment incurred between the time of injury and death, funeral services, loss of companionship, and more. According to the California Code of Civil Procedure Section 377.60, specific surviving family members are entitled to compensation. This may include the decedent’s spouse, domestic partner, children, parents, putative spouse, stepchildren, and children of the putative spouse.

Survivors have two years from the date of the accident in which caused a close relative’s death to bring a wrongful death lawsuit in California. This time limit is known as the statute of limitations.
