Madison Avenue Motorcycle Crash Injures Rider

A motorcycle crash in Citrus Heights on February 25 resulted in major injuries to the rider. The accident occurred along eastbound Madison Avenue just west of Primrose Drive around 3:12 p.m., blocking the slow lane. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers who arrived at the scene did not provide further details about the crash.

Investigation Underway to Determine Cause of Motorcycle Crash

The motorcycle rider was transported to a hospital for additional care, and the Suzuki motorcycle was towed from the scene. An investigation is underway to find out what caused the crash.

Motorcycle Accident Can Be Caused by Different Types of Negligence

Motorcycle accidents can be caused by various factors, including driver negligence and poorly maintained roadways. Drivers may not be aware of the presence of motorcyclists on the roadway or may act carelessly when driving around them. Poorly maintained roads with potholes or debris can also cause dangerous collisions between motorcycles and other vehicles. When lack of road maintenance is the cause, the injured party may place a claim against the government entity in charge. Because the time limit to file is six months, getting help from an attorney may be a good idea.

How a Lawyer Can Combat Prejudice Against Motorcyclists

Even though a motorcycle accident may not be the fault of the rider, there is often a prejudice against motorcyclists that can have an impact on the outcome of a personal injury case. An experienced lawyer who understands motorcycle law can help combat this bias and ensure that their client is treated fairly in court. An attorney can also help to pursue all available legal options, such as filing a claim with the insurance company or seeking damages in civil court to get the highest possible settlement.

Placing an Injury Claim Following a Motorcycle Crash

Those injured in motorcycle accidents may be entitled to damages. Damages may include:

  • Medical: Hospitalization and treatment costs, rehabilitation and ongoing care can be recouped.
  • Wages: If you are injured and unable to work, you may be able to recover lost income.
  • Pain and suffering: Damages are paid for the rider’s physical and mental suffering because of the collision.
  • Loss of enjoyment: If an accident prevents a motorcycle operator from enjoying activities they once did, they may be able to recover damages for that loss.
  • Punitive damages: If the negligent driver was reckless or the accident was intentional, punitive damages may be awarded.

In order to recover damages after a motorcycle crash injury, it is necessary to prove the driver’s negligence caused the accident. An experienced accident lawyer can maximize a rider’s recovery of compensation.
