Citrus Heights Injury Accident on Business 80

A Citrus Heights injury accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on January 21 along Business 80, just North of the Auburn Boulevard off-ramp. One of the drivers was reported as having left the scene of the crash. The violent collision was between a white Cadillac Escalade SUV and a black Honda Civic. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report, the two vehicles were left blocking all three lanes of traffic, and the collision caused damage to a steel beam at the connector, which required emergency crews to repair right away. Although an ambulance was called for reported injuries in the crash, it is unknown what trauma level was assigned. The SUV had to be towed from the scene. Whether drugs or alcohol was a factor in the accident is unknown at the time of this report.

Felony Hit-and-Run

Hit and run is an offense taken seriously in California. If a driver leaves an injury accident scene before police have arrived, they may be charged with felony hit-and-run. If the other driver’s vehicle is damaged, but no one is injured, it may be charged as a misdemeanor. A felony hit-and-run charge in California can carry penalties of up to four years in jail as well as a hefty fine.

Types of Injuries in a Citrus Heights Motor Vehicle Accident

Because of the force of the impact in a motor vehicle collision, the driver and passengers inside may suffer serious injuries. These can be caused by being knocked around inside the vehicle or even ejected as well as additional damage caused by the seat belts and airbags. Among the injuries that can occur are:

  • Chest injuries can be caused by striking against the steering wheel or dashboard. It can also occur due to the stress placed on the chest by the shoulder restraints or airbags.
  • Brain and head injuries are common in motor vehicle accidents, particularly if the vehicle experiences a rollover. Traumatic brain injuries can occur if the vehicle rolls over and the roof is crushed.
  • Broken bones commonly occur in motor vehicle accidents, particularly of the knees, arms, legs, and collarbone.
  • Spinal cord damage is most common in side-impact collisions because this is where a vehicle offers the least protection in an injury accident.

Obtaining Compensation in a Citrus Heights Injury Accident

A Citrus Heights injury accident can result in severe harm that can cause high medical bills, pain and suffering and lost wages from your time away from work. Someone who is injured by another’s negligent actions should not have to bear the brunt of the financial cost. An experienced car accident lawyer can help by negotiating on your behalf with the insurance company. If the insurance company is unwilling to pay what you require to cover your expenses, the case can be taken to civil court to obtain what you need and deserve.
