Citrus Heights Fatal Accident

citrus heights accident

A Citrus Heights fatal accident occurred on October 9 on Greenback Lane at about 6:30 in the evening, resulting in the death of one man. One driver in the three-car collision attempted to flee the accident scene, but, according to authorities, the person was apprehended. To facilitate vehicle removal and to investigate the cause of the accident, Greenback Lane was closed for several hours.

I would like to extend my condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Tagintsev in their time of sorrow.

Details of the Citrus Heights Fatal Accident

The crash occurred on Greenback Lane in the vicinity of San Juan Avenue. The road closures extended from San Juan Avenue to the San Juan High School area. According to the Citrus Heights Police Department, a call came in around 6:30 p.m., and after arriving on the scene, police tried to help the fatally injured man, but he was pronounced dead shortly after that. The deceased has since been identified by the coroner as Andrey Tagintsev, 45, from Citrus Heights. Several other people were injured in the Citrus Heights fatal accident but have not been identified at this time, and the nature of their injuries has not been detailed by authorities. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Hit and Run Accidents

Hit-and-run accidents are happening more often in Sacramento than elsewhere in the state. Common reasons for such accidents are the driver does not have insurance or a driver’s license or the motorist is drunk. While evading the consequences of these actions, being involved in a hit-and-run is much worse. If someone is injured or killed, as in this Citrus Heights fatal accident, the charge for a hit and run can be a felony, resulting in prison time, fines, and other consequences. While some hit-and-run drivers are not apprehended, the injured person can help to identify them by noting the car’s make and model, color, license plate number, and any distinguishing features of the driver. A wrongful death claim by the surviving family members may be initiated to recover damages.

Wrongful Death in a Citrus Heights Fatal Accident

Many times, someone is killed in a car accident due to the negligence of another motorist or other entity. When this happens, the person’s grieving family suffers from financial issues due to the person’s untimely death. This can take the form of medical expenses during the accident, funeral and burial costs, or the loss of financial support the decedent provided to his or her family. Other reasons include the need to hire others to do some of the tasks the person did at home and the absence of spousal affection or benefits the person may have brought to the family’s financial well-being. In such cases, the family can file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent party to recover these losses.

Listen to the following video where Personal Injury Lawyer Ed Smith explains a wrongful death claim:

When a Hit and Run Driver Is Not Apprehended

An injured party may have difficulty collecting damages if a hit-and-run driver is not apprehended. If the victim has collision insurance, the damages to their property will be covered. However, the vehicle owner will be required to pay a deductible. Premiums will not usually increase. Med Pay will cover medical expenses for the driver and occupants of the vehicle up to the limits of a driver’s policy.
