Cirby Way Pedestrian Fatality

I’m Ed Smith, a Roseville Pedestrian Accident Attorney. The pedestrian who passed away after being struck by a car on a busy Roseville street last weekend has been identified. According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office the name of the decedent is Christopher Williams, 23, a resident of Roseville.

What Happened?

Williams was hit by a car around 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2016. He was walking along Cirby Way in the vicinity of Orlando Avenue when he was struck by a westbound car. He was transported to a local hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced deceased on arrival.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian stopped and reportedly cooperated with investigators, according to authorities.

We extend our condolences to the family of the man who passed away in this accident.

Independent Investigation Crucial

It typically takes a couple of weeks for the investigating agency to complete a traffic collision report. Sometimes traffic collision reports can be inconclusive or in error. This oftentimes leaves the family and friends of the victim with several unanswered questions as to how and why their loved one passed away. It is important to contact an experienced pedestrian accident attorney who can perform and independent investigation. This is especially crucial when one of the parties to an accident has passed away and is therefore unable to give his or her side of the story.

What Causes Pedestrian Accidents?

There are many varying factors and an experienced attorney knows what to look for to determine true cause. Despite great efforts by national and state agencies to bring awareness to the issue of pedestrian accidents, the alarming rate at which they are happening has not been diminished much in the past few years.

Careless and Risking Driving Behaviors

Careless and risky driving conduct by motorists may be a factor. Some of the risky behavior includes:

  • Driving while drunk or drugged, which impairs the senses and can result in the driver taking more time to notice pedestrians. Their response time is dimished when under the influence;
  • Distracted driving – talking on the phone, reading or sending text messages, fiddling with the radio, distracted by other passengers in the car or any other thing that causes the driver to become distracted and shift his or her eyes off the roadway;
  • Speeding – going too fast for weather or road conditions;
  • Failure to obey traffic signals or signs, such as running stop signs and/or red lights;
  • Other types of risky or careless driving behavior.

Determinining Negligence

A motorist who is determined to be careless or negligent and has caused injury to a pedestrian can be held liable for the injured pedestrian’s past and future medical costs, mental pain and suffering, lost wages, and more. If your loved one has died in a pedestrian accident, contact a Roseville pedestrian attorney right away.
