Driver Pinned in Cameron Park Car Accident
On Thursday, February 2, 2017, an auto accident involving two vehicles occurred in Cameron Park on Highway 50.
What Happened?
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 50 south of the Cameron Park Drive off-ramp at approximately 9:40 in the morning. When officers arrived on scene they discovered that two vehicles crashed into each other. This accident is currently under investigation as it was not immediately clear what caused the accident.
Were There Injuries?
Yes. At least one of the drivers in an involved vehicle was pinned in and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. They were then transported by ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment of injuries suffered in the accident.
Highway Closures
Both directions of Highway 50 was closed for a short time following this collision while CHP collected evidence for their investigation. The two vehicles involved had to be towed from the scene as they were severely damaged. The investigation is currently ongoing, it was not immediately clear if drugs or alcohol or distracted driving was a factor in the collision.
